This weekend, I'll be spending a long weekend with a big group of friends and family on a really nice inland lake here in Michigan.
The usual good ‘ol clean American fun will be had: tours around the lake on the pontoon, lots of swimming and jet ski fun, fishing (and some fish stories), games, bonfires with s'mores and general R&R.
[custom_frame_right shadow=”on”][/custom_frame_right]Although many of fellow Red Blooded American friends will crack open a beer in the evening as we sit around the bon fire, my preference will be to open and share a nice bottle of Cabernet, Merlot or a great Red Blend. (LIke the Napa Cabernet pictured here. I found this delightful gem in a recent trip to review a new local wine bar.)
In honor of this 4th of July holiday, I will dedicate this weekend's wine selection to wines born in America!
Luckily, I've recently received a shipment of delicious California Wines, from the California Wine Club, and I have a couple bottles left from my local wine store's June Wine Club, which was all California Wines.
Since the weather outlook is showing some pretty warm temperatures, I may have to relinquish my steadfast preferences for red wine and check out a nice Napa Sauvignon Blanc. (Luckily, I now have a bottle in my cellar waiting for the occasion.)
So, on this long holiday weekend, celebrate American Independence Day, like me. Just open a bottle of your favorite Red or White — or you'll be Blue.
(See what I did there? Clever, huh?)
Happy Forth of July!
