As a marketing nerd, I love products named for exactly what they are. I ordered “Really Good Boxed Wine”, and I'd like to share my experience.
Yes, the name really is “Really Good Boxed Wine“.
If you have a preconceived notion regarding the quality of boxed wine, then you're not alone. For years, boxed wine has oftentimes had a reputation of “bulk” and/or “cheap” wine.
And if you were wondering if “really good boxed wine” is an oxymoron (like “jumbo shrimp” or “organized mess”), then know this: I was with you. I used to think that boxed wine was not “good” and was generally limited to gatherings where (a) the host didn't know (or care) about the quality of the wine served or (b) the host simply chose the boxed wine because it's a budget-friendly and easy way to self-serve wine to a large number of people.
My personal experience with boxed wine was that I found it sufficient, but never remarkable and rarely “good”. I have shopped my local Kroger or Target and purchased a number of boxes of Bota Box and Black Box brand boxed wine, among a myriad of others in search of a reliable “go-to” boxed wine if needed. (In hindsight, I can now consider all of these purchases throughout the years as “research” for this review!)
I ordered and received 2 boxes of wine from Really Good Boxed Wine.
First, I'll cut to the chase: I found the wines I received delicious. Absolutely great.
I ordered two reds: Cabernet Sauvignon and Old Vine Primivinto
I really think it's really good wine. Really.
After drinking both of my boxes of wine (and already ordered more for the holidays) I will say: I really think Really Good Boxed Wine is really good wine.
My delivery experience from Really Good Boxed Wine.
My delivery was conveniently delivered to a local business that could sign for the alcohol delivery, so I didn't have to schedule a time to be home while awaiting the delivery to my home. This could be a game-changer, and all wine of the month clubs may consider this service.
Like normal delivery notifications, I received all the delvery updates and was immediately notified when my shipment of boxed wine from Really Good Boxed Wine had arrived at my local Walgreens. Instead of requiring me to be home for the “window of delivery” time, I was able to go about my day, without needing to try to schedule time at home while awaiting my wine delivery.
This was so convenient. I simply stopped off at the Walgreens around the corner from my house on my way home. Although I've never used this service before, and I entered the store wondering if there is a new “wine delivery” sign, it was very easy to spot the “fedex” signs near the photography counter.
With less than a 2 minute wait, the Walgreens clerk quickly retrieved my package from the back storeroom, checked my ID and I was off with my shipment of wine. Again: so convenient!

I got the wine home, and took a number of photos to show you how the boxes of wine were delivered to me.
