The California Wine Club — Full Company Review

The California Wine Club is a family-owned business that takes pride in selecting wine from small, family-owned wineries.  They personally stand behind their choice of wines each month, unlike many other wine clubs which are rather anonymous in their ownership or are backed by big companies.

Each club includes not only quality wine but also all of the information you could possibly want about the vineyard that produced it. The monthly newsletter, Uncorked, is a full color publication that not only tells you more about the wine but also includes recipes, general wine information, and pairing help. I wouldn't mind reading the newsletter every month even if I didn't have the wine that goes with it!

One of the things that I like best about the gift options is that you can choose how often you want them sent. Not everyone drinks 2 bottles a month every month. You can send 2 bottles a month but have them delivered every other month or once a quarter. You can also choose to have one bottle of red and one bottle of white sent at a time, or 2 bottles of each. The only down side is that if you have two red or two white, they will be the same. Of course, if they like the wine as much as I think they will, they may want two bottles of the same!

The California Wine Club runs various specials from month to month, including a discount the more months that you buy. They also run promotions for different gift-giving holidays like Christmas, Mother's Day, and Father's Day. If you are curious about the type of wines that they send out, you can also see their “Recently Featured Wineries” on their site and even read the past newsletter. I love a company with that kind of transparency.
