We are always on the lookout for not only new wine clubs to try, but new TYPES of wine clubs to try. One that has been on our radar for awhile is a natural wine club.
Natural wine is wine that is made with minimal intervention which may include:
- Organic or Biodynamic Farming
- Spontaneous Fermentation using wild/native yeasts
- Minimal Additives (color, tannins, flavors)
- Little or No Added Sulfur
- Unfiltered
There is no exact definition or set of standards for what would be called “natural wine” at this point.
In addition, natural wines may have different characteristics such as:
- Cloudy appearance
- More unpredictable flavors
- Natural fizz or sparkle
- Lighter body
- Sediment
All of these are normal and not indicative of anything being wrong with the wine!
Natural wines do tend to be a little more expensive because they are not mass produced.
We are excited to try our first natural wine club, which looks like it is going to be MYSA Natural Wine. They sell by the individual bottle but also have a few different wine clubs:
- Mixed Natural Wine Club
- Orange Natural Wine Club
- Red Natural Wine Club
Prices start around $85 for 3 bottles. They have various shipment options plus a gift option. Being able to give a club like this as a gift is really cool because of how unique natural wine is right now.
We will do a full MYSA Natural Wine Club review once we have a chance to place the order and experience the wines! I'm excited about trying types of wines that I have never tried at all before!
