A few months ago I did my first WSJ Wine Club review and the free gift that I received with my purchase was a Deluxe Corkscrew set plus tasting notes and binder. Although that offer is still available, the Wall Street Journal Wine Club also has a new offer that includes a free crystal decanter in place of the corkscrew set.
It's difficult to tell what the value of the decanter is because prices can vary a great deal depending upon the quality of the crystal and the size. Based on the prices of other decanters and the price of the corkscrew set from the other WSJ offer, I am guessing it would be worth around $20.
Other than the free gifts, the offers are both the same. You get 12 bottles of either red, white, or mixed for $69.99 ($5.84 a bottle) plus shipping and handling and tax. The shipping and handling charge is usually $19.99.
I often recommend the WSJ Wine club for people who are 1) ordering for themselves and 2) fairly new to wine clubs. What they lack in premium quality, they make up for in education and “extras.” For more detailed information including a video that shows everything as it came packed in my box, read my WSJ Wine Club Review post.
