Most of the time I don't believe they hype when celebrities create or endorse products. I'm particularly skeptical when it is something as nuanced as wine. However, I've been researching the Miraval Rose 2013 wine produced by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, and the reviews are actually quite good.
In fact, Wine Spectator named the Jolie-Pitt & Perrin Côtes de Provence Rosé Miraval (that is quite a mouthful!) No. 84 on its list of the top 100 wines of 2013. The wine was ranked the highest of any rose on the list and the story behind the wine is featured on the cover of this month's Wine Spectator Magazine.
Miraval Rose is described as having “delicate aromas of white fruits, just-picked strawberries and floral notes. The mouth is complex with raspberry and wild strawberry notes, wild herbs, citrus and wet stone flavors.” In addition to the 89 Point Rating it was given by Wine Spectator, it received a rating of 90 Points from the Wine Advocate. I've actually been able to find very few complaints.
The wine is currently available in the United States from various merchants but the easiest we have found is Wine.com. It retails for $30 but they are currently selling it for $24.99. They almost always have some kind of discount listed on their site either for a percentage off or 1 cent shipping.
Between the good price, the popularity of Pitt and Jolie, and the overall high reviews of the wine, it is likely either to sell out soon or the prices will start going up. Stock up now before either happens!
