[custom_frame_left shadow=”on”][/custom_frame_left]One of the first wine clubs we ordered was the Explorations Wine Club from Uncorked Ventures. Although we recorded an unboxing video (below) and have already consumed the wine, we never shared this with you! Oops! Well, here you go:

The Explorations Wine Club gives you a bottle of red and a bottle of white wine, and is focused on West Coast wines.
[custom_frame_right shadow=”on”][/custom_frame_right]The shipment of wine comes as any other – with the bottles laid in cardboard. In this shipment, I received:
- 2010 Charles Smith Syrah Boom Boom ($15 MSRP)
- 2009 Cambria Chardonnay ($22 MSRP)
My shipment was $34 (it's $40 on the site, but I used a 15% off coupon), which is right on with MSRP rates. After $16 in shipping plus tax, I ended up paying just over $50.
“Value” of wine: $37
Wine Club cost: $50 (inc. shipping)
This was my biggest complaint in the video, and Uncorked Ventures chimed in:
(Shipping is…) Pretty cheap and next day for California and much of the southwest and certainly more expensive for the east coast.
Rewatching the video myself, Josh drops a lot of knowledge, terminology and explanation on how these wines hold up.
But, the question is: good deal? Maybe if you live closer to the shipping area, but for myself in the Northeast, the shipping kills it. If you're ordering as a gift, and you know the recipient loves to discover new West Coast domestic wines, consider the Explorations Wine Club from Uncorked Ventures.
