Looking for a club that is similar to one of the most popular clubs we have ever reviewed,Wall Street Journal Wine Club? The National Geographic European Taste Tour might be for you!

How Does the Nat Geo Wine Club Work?

Like the WSJ club, Nat Geo ships wine only by the case (12 bottles). This makes it great for people who like a wide variety of different wines at value prices. A typical first shipment will be 14 for $64.99-$69.99, or $4.64 – $5 a bottle. (Shipping is an additional $19.99) You can choose from a case of all red, a case of all white, or a mixed case. Shipments are then sent quarterly with possible additional seasonal boxes. Tasting notes and food pairing guides are included, and you often receive a gift with your first purchase, such as the current gift of 2 free stemless crystal wine glasses. They currently are offering 2 bottles of gold medal Montepulciano d’Abruzzo in the first box as well.

Through the European Taste Tour, you also get “credits” the longer you stay a member. The credits can be used toward free bottles, upgrades to a 1.5-liter magnum bottle, a luxury bottle (worth $40+), and other exclusive offers.

What do you get in your National Geographic Club Delivery?

A standard case delivery from National Geographic Wines of the World will include 12 bottles of wine plus tasting notes for each bottle. The tasting notes include information about the winery, food pairing ideas, and storage/serving suggestions.

Before you order, you can click on a dropdown to see what wines will ship in your case. You can choose from European Champion Red, European Champion White, or European Champion Mix. You can scroll through every wine in the case and you will see the name, bottle, and description. Current red wines include a French Malbec, an Italian blend, and a Spanish Tempranillo. White wines include: a German Riesling, a Portuguese white blend, and a Spanish Garnacha Blanca.

Wine selections are shown like these for all clubs:

National Geographic World Heritage Reds

It's possible to get more than one bottle of the same wine if you order a full red or white case.

You will receive a 12 bottle shipment every three months but you can skip a shipment, delay, or cancel with 10 days' notice.  This can be done online or by phone. Pay attention for the advance notice in your account that you will receive before each shipment.

Who should order the National Geographic Wine Club?

The Nat Geo Club ships to the majority of states, although there are a couple of states with shipping surcharges or specific delivery fees. We try to keep our review updated periodically with any changes that we see on their site.

The club is best when used as a personal club purchase rather than to try to send as a gift because it doesn't come with any gift delivery options and you can't prepay. If you want to send as a gift, you will need to notify the recipient yourself and then remember to cancel after they have received the number of shipments that you wish to gift them (although an ongoing wine club case shipment would be pretty sweet!).

The club is best for people who like a variety of different wines and trying wines from all over the world that retail for around $15-20 each.

When you place your order, you can set up an online account to be able to manage your membership online, view and sort your wines, and save your delivery options online.

Although we do not have any photos of the current National Geographic shipments, we do have a recent picture of one of our deliveries of Wall Street Journal Wine Club, a very similar club that is also run by Laithwaites:

The current National Geographic offer is $64.99, compared to WSJ being increased to $89.99. So you may want to grab the Nat Geo one now!

Offering a diverse selection of wines from various countries at value prices, this club provides a convenient and exciting way to explore new varieties. With quarterly shipments, detailed tasting notes, and exclusive member benefits like credits for free bottles and upgrades, the National Geographic Wine Club ensures a rich and rewarding wine-tasting journey. Whether you're a seasoned wine enthusiast or just starting out, this club's offerings cater to a wide range of palates and preferences, making it an excellent option for anyone looking to expand their wine collection.
