Although we usually review only Wine Clubs, there are often times where a wine shipment that is NOT a club is a better option. This is the case with Swirl Wine Shop.

Whether you know the exact types of wines you would like shipped or rather want to experience new varietals or a total variety, Swirl Wine Shop has “Bundles” that fit the bill.

How Does Swirl Wine Shop Work?

Swirl Wine Shop functions as a typical wine ecommerce site with one big exception. In addition to single bottles, you can order “Bundles.” The “Bundles” are available in 6, 10, 12, 15, and 18 bottle options. Popular options include:

• Red, White and Rose
• All Reds
• Crisp Whites
• All Rose
• Sweeter Wines (White, Red, or Mixed)
• Dry Wines (White, White and Rose, Red, Mixed)

You can also “Build Your Own Bundle.” This option starts at 6 bottles, with free shipping on orders of $99 or more. With around 50 different wines to choose from at any given time, you can specify Red, White, Rose, Dry, Sweet, California & Washington, or International. Bottle prices range from $15 to $19.

My Ordering Experience

I clicked through our special New Customer link for the 10 bottles for $99 and free shipping offer. (Note this is a limited time offer) After putting the Bundle in my cart, the cart did show the $99 price:

In addition, I was given the option of ordering a $25 e-Gift Card for $5.00. I'm not sure if that always pops up, but it's a nice option if you think you might want to order again in the future!

I chose to have my wine shipped to my business address so that someone would be there to sign for it, but it turns out that they also suggest that you choose a local pickup point so that someone can sign for it. As luck would have it, my suggested pickup point was my same business address UPS Store! I've heard that this works for some people but not for others. Because I do have a box at this particular UPS Store, it worked for me.

I purchased my wine October 22. It was shipped October 23. It was delivered on October 29. Pretty fast! Only a week from purchase to delivery. 

What do you get in your Swirl Wine Shop Delivery?

Swirl Wine Shop deliveries are standard wine shipments. My box of 10 wines came packaged safely with tiers of 3 bottles each. Beware that when you are ordering 10 bottles of wine, it's a heavy box!

The invoice was a label on the inside of the box, ensuring it would not be misplaced.

Although the box does not come with tasting notes, the website does have tasting notes and suggested pairings for each wine.

If you are looking for a shipment of wines that are “new to you” at good prices, you can benefit from their bundles and their frequent discounts.

A perfect reason to order from Swirl Wine Shop is if you are entertaining and would like a nice mix of wines for a group. Their “This and That: Red, White, and Rose” assortment of either 12, 15, or 18 bottles features an assortment of wines that come out to only $15 a bottle for the bundle. When you watch for specials (like the current coupon we have on the 10 bottle bundles), you can often get the bottles for an average of $10 a bottle in your first shipment.

You have two options with Swirl Wine Shop–customizing your bundle is best for people who know exactly the kinds of wines that they want, and a pre-made bundle is best for people who just want a variety of some type. The lack of autobilling for any future shipments is great for people who forget to cancel memberships. Although it doesn't make a great gift as shipped, you can always order the box for a good price and then wrap the bottles–or even break it up into multiple gifts. It would also be great to order before the holidays to have bottles on hand for entertaining or hostess gifts.
